Draw, paint, stick, sculpt - create your dream community and enter our competition to be part of designing a better future for Belfast City!

Design your dream community

Would you like to see your work exhibited on a gallery wall? Do you want to be in with a chance to win £500 for you as well as £500 for an organisation you support?

The Take Back the City coalition, in partnership with the Mac in Belfast, has launched a summer art competition for young people.

Draw, paint, stick, sculpt - imagine your dream community and be part of designing a better future for Belfast City!

Show us what the houses, outdoor spaces, places to play, shops and amenities might look like. Make your design as environmentally friendly as you can. Think about how living in this community would make people feel.

INFORMATION FOR YOUTH WORKERS AND TEACHERS

There are many families in Belfast who don’t have a home.

Take Back The City Coalition in partnership with The MAC are encouraging young people to participate in an art competition which will run alongside an Urban Design competition which is exploring ideas for an inclusive and sustainable community on the 25 acre former Mackie’s site in Belfast.

We are asking you to help engage the young people you work with to use the visual arts (drawing, painting, posters, collages, photos, sculptures, digital art) to explore what their dream community, a new vision for Belfast would look like.

All ideas are welcome! They can focus on what houses for families might be like, how we can make the places we live more climate friendly, how people can connect to other spaces and communities, who might like to live there, where they could play, how they might encourage nature and wildlife.

The MAC, Belfast are interested in creating a space to showcase children and young people’s ideas, so please keep all the artwork safe if you are not sending it off to us.

The winner will be chosen by representatives of the Take Back the City coalition. The winner will be announced in October 2022 and Take Back the City will provide a prize of £500 to the winner and £500 to an organisation of their choice.
